THE DOCTOR HACK FOUNDATION — Innovation and Solidarity for Health
The Doctor Hack Foundation was born from a deeply personal conviction: that science, innovation, and compassion can — and must — work together to change lives. Officially established in Romania in April 2022 and registered as a non-profit, non-governmental legal entity under Government Ordinance No. 26/2000, our foundation exists for one reason: to give real chances for treatment and recovery to people who are too often left behind by the healthcare system.
Our Mission
We support patients facing disabilities, neuromotor disorders, rare diseases, and complex medical conditions that require a personalised, multidisciplinary approach. As outlined in our founding charter, our core objectives are:
- Direct patient support — Covering treatment costs, partially or fully, for patients with disabilities or in precarious financial situations. We pay clinics and medical institutions directly on behalf of those who cannot afford the care they desperately need.
- Medical equipment donations — Acquiring medical devices and equipment and donating them to clinics, schools, religious institutions, and other entities that serve vulnerable communities.
- Advancing dental and medical research — Establishing a Private Institute for Medical-Dental Research, in partnership with our Department of Medical Research and Development, to launch applied research programs and technological innovation that bring the medicine of the future closer to the people who need it today.
- Community infrastructure — Supporting the construction and development of community-serving facilities, including places of worship on donated land, strengthening the social fabric that holds communities together.

Building a Bridge Between Research and Care
Through our research initiatives, we don’t just treat — we innovate. We organise symposiums and knowledge exchanges between national and international organisations with aligned missions. We publish research and informational materials to spread awareness. We build concrete links between patients, medical professionals, state institutions, and private partners — both in Romania and abroad. Every initiative is designed to close the gap between cutting-edge science and the real, daily needs of patients.
Transparency and Governance
We believe that trust is the foundation of generosity. Doctor Hack operates under strict governance:
- A Board of Directors oversees all strategy, budgets, and programs
- An independent Auditor ensures financial accountability
- A Supervisory Council, composed of representatives from our principal sponsors, reviews our financial health quarterly and recommends strategic direction
- All dividends from any economic activities are reinvested exclusively toward our mission — board and supervisory members receive no compensation from foundation funds
Our founding patrimony of 25,500 RON was contributed entirely by the founding members, and every cent of revenue — from donations, sponsorships, grants, and direct activities — is directed toward achieving our objectives.
